The Indochine Art Journey

Paint lacquer in Hanoi. Weave silk in Luang Prabang. Carve stone near Angkor Wat. Return home as a complete creator.

A Traveling Art Classroom Across Southeast Asia

Indochine Chic offers authentic, hands-on learning with master artisans in their own communities. No experience needed. Just curiosity, open hands, and a love for adventure.

Your Journey Across Three Countries

Vietnam

Lacquer Painting (Sơn Mài) — Hanoi

Learn the ancient art of Vietnamese lacquer painting. Apply layers of eggshell, crushed stone, gold leaf, and natural resin. Sand and polish to a mirror finish.

Laos

Silk Weaving — Luang Prabang

Sit beside Lao weavers who learned from their mothers. Dye silk with indigo and turmeric. Weave your own scarf on a wooden loom.

Cambodia

Stone Carving — Near Angkor Wat

Work with master carvers using hammer, chisel, and file. Carve sandstone just as Khmer artisans did a thousand years ago.

What Past Students Say

“I arrived not knowing how to hold a paintbrush. I left with a lacquer painting I’m genuinely proud of. This wasn’t a tour. It was transformation.”
— Maya, 22, USA
“Weaving in Laos felt like learning a secret language. The grandmother who taught me said, ‘The silk needs to feel you.’ I’ll never forget that.”
— Sophie, 26, Australia
“Carving stone near Angkor Wat gave me chills. Knowing Khmer artisans did the same work a thousand years ago — I felt connected to something much bigger.”
— James, 28, UK
“I applied on a whim. By day three, I had lacquer under my fingernails and a smile I couldn’t wipe off. If you’re thinking about it — just go.”
— Carlos, 30, Spain
“As a Vietnamese person, I thought I knew lacquer painting. I was wrong. I’m not the same person who applied. I’m bigger now.”
— Linh, 24, Vietnam
“She came home different — more patient, more confident, more connected. This wasn’t just a trip. It was growing up.”
— Susan, 52, Canada (parent)
“We’ve led hundreds of students through the temples, studios, and villages of Southeast Asia. Every time, we witness the same transformation. This is why we do what we do.”
